Generally, I would say around 45. If you're going 50+, the 4WD is doing you no extra good over the normal RWD. It will not improve your braking at all. It doesn't help with control at those speeds because in turns it can actually cause tires to break loose. And if there is any pavement involved, it will cause excess drivetrain and tire wear.

That said, some guys race the 1500s in 4WD mode for the starting traction. They're stuck with that through the 110mph governed limit. Can't be switching modes in mid-race, of course. Probably really bad for the transfer cases, not something I would do with my truck.
