AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (June 12, 2015) — Buyers of Ram Truck’s new Ram 1500 Rebel pickup will be hard-pressed to overlook what tires are OE on the special edition line — the truck’s interior features the tread pattern of its Toyo Open Country A/T II tires embossed on the front and rear passenger seats.
The Ram Rebel brings an aggressive off-road design to a full-size pickup, offering an increased ride height, standard 33-inch tires and either a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 or 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 in either 4x2 or 4x4 configurations. The four-door crew-cab variant comes with a 5x7-foot bed.
Visually the Rebel features a blacked-out grille with a prominent billet silver “RAM” letter badge, black off-road powder-coated front bumper design, powder-coated billet silver skid plate, front tow hooks and 33-inch Toyo tires on 17-inch aluminum wheels.
Air suspension lifts the Rebel 1-inch higher than other 4x4 Ram 1500s for 10.3-inch ground clearance; the suspension lowers the vehicle at highway speeds for better fuel economy and can be raised for additional clearance or lowered for ease of entry.
“We are proud to have secured this exclusive, high-profile fitment that will grow awareness of the Toyo Tires brand and quality,” said Jim Hawk, president, Toyo Tire North America OE Sales.
“The Open Country A/T II is also the perfect complement, enhancing the Ram Rebel’s all-terrain toughness while providing excellent on-road manners.”
The LT285/70R17 tires are built at Toyo’s factory in White, Ga.
The Ram Rebel goes on sale this summer, with prices starting at $42,970. Ram Truck is a unit of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
