I had a similar experience with my 2019 Ram 1500 -- just a scratch on my bumper, but the car that “bumped” into me at a stop light had visable front bumper damage. So, I bought a Hitch Hammer off Amazon for the next “bump” in traffic, and it had an added benefit -- I used it as a “stop” when backing into my storage garage. It will go on the ’23 Rebel I just ordered.

These Rebels have great bumpers. Which is pretty much why I stopped looking for aftermarket bumpers….

I’ve got a similar situation like CBH… except I just leave my weight distribution hitch always in…

the Pink poodle over the ball serves multiple purposes… makes the hitch easier to see at night when walking around the Truck while camping. Plus also make the hitch easier to see in the backup camera when the shade hit in the back.

I have never left the hitch in the receiver, never a need to.Just a accident waiting to happen.

I wouldn’t say those who leave the hitch in are lazy, as I am one…. Why do I need to remove something because other people don’t watch where they are walking?
I’ve got a bright pink Poodle on my hitch…. If you don’t see it and trip on my hitch, you deserve it LOL

Trust me I’ve tripped on my own hitch a couple of times (Pre-Poodle). I now always look down when walking behind any truck… lesson learned

Plus I like having the extra protection on the rear, as I have been rear ended before and the hitch saved any body damage on my truck.
If you want to spend money to buy something to stick in your receiver in place of your hitch, have at it. I don’t see the point in spending money to buy a separate price of equipment in place of something you already have… To each their own I guess.
