Hello everyone!

I'm considering the purchase of a used car and I'm hoping I can get some advice from the forum community. The car is a 1996 Dodge RAM with a salvage title, and it's priced at $1,400.

I'm wondering if this is a good buy for the money, or if I should stay away. I don't know a whole lot about cars, so any advice would be much appreciated. Is the salvage title a big red flag? Does the age and make of the car make it a bad choice? What about the price?

I'm really hoping to get some good advice from you guys, so any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I’d be Leary of the Salvage Title. It could mean any number of things… water intrusion, bent or cracked frame, or just the price of whatever repair was needed was more than the value of the vehicle….

Also I had a 98 Durango, I know closer to the Dakota than Ram, but it had a horrible transmission. When it was up for its 3rd transmission I traded it in… I know different transmission, different power train
