Why are 295 70 18 tires not popular on the rebel?

I am ready to order some wheels and tires for my rebel and Im having a HORRIBLE time trying to make up my mind on what I want! I want a little beefier tire than what comes stock and I want ABSOLUTELY NO rubbing on anything. I was thinking the 295 70 18 looks like a perfect fit without doing anything to the truck at all. However, I don't see many people running this size on the Rebel. Am I missing something? Will it rub or something or is there just not that many people running 18 inch rims with the rebel? I thought the 18 inch rim was a nice choice for the Rebel as well, but maybe Im missing something there as well....lol

its just know throughout the offroad industry, running with a 17" rims makes for a stronger wheel and allows you to have a much larger profile/sidewall. makes for a better experience offroad. stay with a 17" rim and go with a 295 if you want something with a little more beef. just my $0.02
I prefer the look of a 18" wheel with 35's and plan to go that route. Choices seem limited for the 18's. Every time I would see a wheel style I liked it would only be available in 17 or 20.

yea i don't know what to tell you. i prefer 17 personally.
I think you may have to boil it down to what is your intent? Are you going off-roading, or just city driving....do you want it for show or performance, fuel savings...etc. Once you decide why, go with what makes you happy.
I am happy with the wheel and tire combo on my Ram Rebel until I wear the tires out, then I my try to go with a larger tire size and keep the 17" wheels. However, I would like to have some black lug nuts to replace the factory ones.

Someone in the forum at one time posted the part number for black splined lug nuts from Gorilla that he put on his Rebel. The stock size is M14x1.5, acorn seat.
