Converting the front end to 2500 equipment and keeping the Rebel Bumper!

OEM Powe Wagon Grile and a 2500 hood. Hood due to arrive tomorrow and will be painted next week. Here is a photo of the grille mock up.

Factory hood will be sold and the factory Rebel grille is going to a buddies 16 Sport! He is likely going to run an ADD front bumper to accommodate the grille.

I was under the impression that the Rebel and power wagon grills were the same and the hoods are the same size just different styles?
Similar but not the same. Power Wagon Grille has an insert across the bottom that mimicked the raised portion of the Rebel bumper. It bolts on and can be detached. I’ll show more detailed photos this week

Worked on the hood a little today. Bought the OEM replacement 2500 HD hood and it needs to be seam sealed on the underside.

Prepped the perimeter of the hood with red scotchbrite, made a rape bed and then applied some self leveling seam sealer to seal the top of the hood seam against the shell. Still have some work to do on the grille shell but will get the hood painted this week.

Here is a close up of the Power wagon Grille. Same design just different proportions overall. The lower middle is designed to mimic the rise in our Rebel front bumpers. When this portion is removed it is almost completely covered by the front bumper but the outer surround is taller overall which makes up for the gap between the edge of the 2500 hood and the top of the 1500 grille.

Thanks for the clarification, I cant wait to see what its gonna end up looking like.

I have another question for you. I've been having trouble locating a bug deflector that says it fits the rebel. I reached out to AVS and they gave me a part number that looks like it's for a 2500. Are the front of the rebel hoods and 2500 hoods the same shape?
Thanks again for posting.
You only need to make sure the bug deflector is for the 1500. The hood on the Rebel is no different from any other 1500 ram truck. The change in our front ends is the placement of the front bumper lower which is why we have 2500 fillers beneath the headlamps to accommodate the dumper mounting.

I will be selling my hood on another forum to any 1500 owner looking for the ram air style hood. They have a high value and sell easily. I like to hood but it is so commonplace I wanted to make my Rebel stand apart. The hope is that it looks like a factory option when complete.

Posted a pic of my buddies 15 sport on Bilstiens and 35’s on stock 20’s. His is tuned with an intake and full exhaust and scoots pretty good even with all the extra rubber. His is the truck with did the electric fan swap on as well.
